ACCD recognizes that we, as persons with disabilities, know our situations best. That is why we interview, consult and meet with people with disabilities during all stages of our projects and research. Through these undertakings, we educate decision-makers and the general public on issues that are important to people with disabilities.

Our projects have brought about many positive changes in Alberta. For example, our work has been instrumental in improving the AISH program and in raising awareness about accessibility issues. Through our efforts, people with disabilities are better able to participate fully in their communities and to be equal partners in society.

ACCD has recently completed two projects that focus on making health and medical services more accessible to Albertans with disabilities. In the first project, we investigated the issue of inaccessible health and medical services in Alberta. In a follow-up ongoing project, we encourage Albertans to join in our efforts to make Alberta a more accessible province. Learn more at www.barrierfreehealth.ca.
