Since 1973, ACCD has been Alberta’s only provincial, cross-disability organization of and for people living with physical, mental, sensory, learning or developmental disabilities. We are a vital and strong organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities.
ACCD was formed to foster an attitude that would encourage people with disabilities to actively overcome social and physical barriers that hinder their ability to participate fully in society. For over forty years, ACCD has been a consumer-directed grassroots organization that speaks from the perspective of people with disabilities.
ACCD has been a part of many positive changes in Alberta. For example, we have had great success bringing about improvements to the AISH program and increasing awareness about accessibility issues. Through our efforts, people with disabilities are better able to participate fully in their communities and to be equal partners in society.
