Guiding Principles
All ACCD undertakings are guided by three key principles: full participation, accessibility and equity.
A Proud History
Since 1973, ACCD has been Alberta’s only provincial, cross-disability organization of and for people with physical, mental, sensory, learning, developmental and progressive disabilities. We are a vital and strong organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with disabilities.
The Consumer Movement
Consumerism, as it relates to persons with disabilities, has its roots in the independent-living movement of the 1970s and has played an important part in ACCD’s history.
Our Logo
ACCD’s current logo, developed in 1993, is colourful and bold, reflecting how strong and proud we are.
Board of Directors
ACCD is directed by a volunteer board composed of seven to ten volunteer members representing a cross-section of the disability community. The board of directors is elected from the membership, and representatives come from across Alberta. Meet the board.
