Who We Are

Our Logo

Picture of fingers reading brailleThe Original Logo

ACCD's original logo, created in the mid-1970s, depicts an oak tree with roots reaching deep into the earth. The tree is a symbol of our potential, represented by the acorn, and our strength, represented by the fully grown oak. It reflects our growth from consumer grassroots input to full-participation in the decision making process.

ACCD's current logo, developed in 1993, is colourful and bold, reflecting how strong and proud we are. The new colours—bright yellow and warm purple—were chosen for their good contrast and visibility. The energy radiating from a human hand shows the power we hold—focusing on ability rather than disability.

Our Hand Logo

This slogan reiterates ACCD's commitment to the consumer movement and our belief that by bringing forward a unified voice we will successfully create positive change for people with disabilities in Alberta.
